Light & Stillness

Works by Rachael O'Shaughnessy

April 9, 2026 through May 24, 2026

Through a series of intimate paintings and drawings, O’Shaughnessy creates painted memories of the natural world, where light, water, and form reveal themselves slowly in her accrued daily ritual at the coastline.

Working between remembered and observed, her pieces move freely between abstraction and representation. O’Shaughnessy’s intimate ocean horizons evoke the meeting of sea and sky, inviting a calm, contemplative experience, or one that stirs, culled from her daily ocean ritual. Her botanical works introduce color and gesture through a tenderness of touch—dissolving into marks up close and gradually revealing their form as the viewer steps back.

O'Shaughnessy offers a subtle shift in perception and an exploration of atmosphere where what is seen and what is felt merge. Vast and small, light and dark, defined and elusive. Light and Stillness invites viewers to slow their gaze and consider their own intimate relationship to nature through time, intention, and awareness. Artist Talk | April 30th | 5:30PM | RSVP
